Course Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Cultivate mushrooms, particularly Pleurotus and Agaricus species.
  • Understand techniques of culture isolation, spawn preparation, substrate preparation, and pest/disease management in mushroom farming.

  • Isolation and maintenance of pure cultures of Pleurotus and Agaricus.
  • Preparation of spawn.
  • Compost and substrate preparation.
  • Bed preparation and mushroom cultivation.
  • Harvesting and management of insects and diseases.
